Thanks to workers organizing together, our rights as app-based workers keep getting stronger!
The key to making sure our strong rights get enforced? Education. That’s why we host regular informational clinics for gig workers in Seattle to learn about our rights on the job and what we can do when app corporations try to skirt the law. This is a great opportunity to get answers to questions about our work and connect with legal support. Sign up for one of our upcoming clinics (information below).
In 2025, our focus is on making sure we all know about the new deactivation protections that went into effect at the beginning of the year. We now have real protections against unfair deactivations that prevent us from continuing to work through an app. No more sudden account shutdowns with no explanation or follow-up. No more being unfairly penalized for rejecting work offers that aren’t worth our time.
Seattle is now the best city in the nation to do gig work because workers like us have made the app companies pay up and treat us and our work with the respect we deserve. In addition to the deactivation ordinance, we have won the right to paid sick time, a minimum wage, the right to know how much each work offer is worth, and more. But these rights only mean something if we can enforce them and to do that we need to make sure gig workers in Seattle know our rights and spread the word!
Join us for an upcoming informational clinic where we break it all down. These clinics are always free of charge and also your opportunity to meet other gig workers. Sign up and share this with your friends!
